TGM Vol.1 Chapter 19 – Going Home

They rested in the inn for one night, then set off back to Shaoyang Peak the next day.

It took almost half a month to catch the demon this time, and this was the first time Xuanji was away from home for such a long time. She really missed it.

I wonder how Linglong is doing. Is she still angry that she didn’t come?

I don’t think mom will worry about it anymore, maybe she even made a bunch of delicious food for her!

After going back, I don’t have to live in the dreadful Mingxia Cave anymore, and I can still watch the Flower Hairpin Tournament. Xuanji suddenly felt that the day was pretty good.

When Chu Yinghong saw her laughing secretly in front of her, she asked, “You’ve been laughing since yesterday until today. Come and tell Aunt Hong, what is there to be happy about?”

Xuanji brought his body close to her chest and looked at the clouds passing beneath her feet and whispered, “Everything is fun. I never knew that I would be so happy when I came out to play. Also, I will be even more happy if I think I can go back after coming out.”

Chu Yinghong laughed: “Little girl is homesick! You’ve only been out for half a month. When you’re sixteen, you’ll have to train in the mountains.”

Xuanji said anxiously, “Then… can I not go out? Or, go away for a few months and come back for a visit.”

Chu Yinghong shook her head: “Xuanji, you have to grow up and leave the protection of your family. Even though you are a girl, you have to learn to be a useful person and can’t drag everyone down again like this time. This is not only to train yourself, but also to protect the people you want to protect. Do you want to see your loved ones get hurt or even die in order to protect yourself?”

Xuanji’s lips moved, speechless.

This incident has really hit her hard. She used to live in her own world and didn’t bother to look outside, but later she realized that the outside world is not like that at all. It turned out that she is really not capable of anything.

When Chu Yinghong saw that she didn’t say anything, she didn’t say anything either.

It is not good to talk too much about some things, especially for a child like her.

After half a day, the little girl suddenly moved in her arms, like a soft little animal, gently took her hand and whispered: “Aunt Hong, I want to be a useful person. I don’t want to drag everyone’s feet anymore.”

Chu Yinghong’s heart was extremely happy. She took her hand in return and said softly, “Aunt Hong will teach you many things. When you return to Shaoyang Peak, you can learn with Aunt Hong.”

Xuanji nodded in silence for a long time, then suddenly looked up and said, “Aunt Hong, I want to learn how to fly on a sword first. Is it okay?”

Chu Yinghong laughed, “Okay… I’ll do whatever you want. But Xuanji, it’s not called flying on a sword, it’s called flying with the sword…”

As she said, she intentionally put pressure on her foot on the sword, and the sword under her feet twisted and spun in the air like a snake, up and down, left and right. The clouds beneath their feet were like white gauze, cut open by the sword, wiping through their hair and mischievously digging through their fingers.

Xuanji laughed in delight.

In the midst of laughter, they returned to the Shaoyang Sect, which they had been away from for half a month.

When they arrived at Shaoyang Peak, Chu Yinghong and Dongfang Qingqi went to the peak to look for the Sect Leader.

Counting the days, there were still two days before the Flower Hairpin Tournament would officially begin, and people from all the sects should be arriving one after another. There are many things to do during this period, such as accommodating everyone, organizing the tournament grounds, and placing the Tengu.

The adults were busy with business, while the children played by themselves.

Xuanji was anxious to go home to find her mother and Linglong. Zhong Minyan would naturally also go to see his master. As for Yu Sifeng, he wanted to find his master, but was dragged away by the two, saying that they were going to introduce Linglong to him. The group of good friends were going to turn from the iron triangle into the four corners..[1]

Reluctant to hold them back, Yu Sifeng had to go with them. In fact, he didn’t dare to find Master and the others so quickly. His mask was broken, and many people saw his face. He didn’t know how they would scold him. It could be delayed for a while.

As soon as Xuanji returned to the familiar courtyard, he looked around and called out, “Mother, Linglong! I’m home!”

As soon as the voice was heard, the door was kicked open and a petite figure flew out and stuck to her, almost causing her to stumble.

“Xuanji Xuanji! I missed you so much! You’re finally back!” Linglong held her tightly by the neck and screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Linglong . . . I can’t breathe . . . my ears are going to be deaf . . .!”

Xuanji’s whispered protest was apparently to no avail, and Linglong was on top of her, touching her from head to toe. “Are you okay? I’ve been worried sick. I haven’t been sleeping well! Quickly! Let me see if the arms and legs are in good shape!”

“I’m okay . . . “ she felt dizzy and harried. Linglong is much more capable than any demon.

Linglong hugs her again and yells for a long time before she finds two dumb boys standing behind Xuanji.

“Ah, Little Six!” Linglong started to beat him with excitement again, and rushed over to him and hugged him, touching him from head to toe to make sure his arms and legs were still there.

Zhong Minyan knew her virtue a long time ago, only a wry smile, touched her little head, and said softly: “We are all okay, so stop yelling. The whole Shaoyang Mountain can listen to you yelling.”

Yu Sifeng coughed at the back of the room, indeed! He sighed quietly, “Ah, Central Plains girls!”

Those brothers who yearn for the gentle and shy girls from the Central Plains, If they knew how lazy Xuanji was and Linglong’s exuberance, they would have been scared to death.

Linglong had already seen this handsome boy next to Zhong Minyan. She could not help but prick her eyebrows when she heard his muttering, and shouted, “What are you talking about! What happened to the girls in Central Plains?!”

Yu Sifeng touched his nose, knowing the current affairs well, “No, nothing…”

LingLong pouted, imitating his odd accent, “No, nothing…you can’t even speak Central Plains dialect, so what can you say about Central Plains girls! Hey, who are you?”

Yu Sifeng is having a headache, he can’t even hide from her, and he is reluctant to answer. Zhong Minyan kindly helped him out.

“This is Yu Sifeng, a disciple of the Palace of Li-Ze. We met the Deputy Master of the Palace halfway and asked him to come and help us catch the demons. He is a good friend of ours and helped us a lot on the way.”

Xuanji nodded hurriedly and finally she had a chance to interrupt, “Yes, yes, Linglong! Si Feng is a good friend. You’ll like him.”

Linglong stomped her foot and said urgently, “I don’t like him! I don’t like it! I’m sick of it. Why does he get to go on a demon hunt? You all get to go, but I get to stay home and get bored! I hate it! I’m dying of boredom!”

Xuanji could only try to persuade her.

The story is still going on, but a laughing voice comes from the courtyard door, “Sister, stop making trouble, if the master finds out he will punish you again.”

Linglong’s legs became weak when she heard of her father, so she rubbed her eyes unwillingly, and said bitterly, “Big brother will use father to scare me!”

Xuanji hurriedly turned back, and sure enough, it was Du Minxing who had come. After half a month of not seeing him, he looks much better than before. He’s completely cleaned off his sour scholarly smell and has a gentle and steady demeanor.

When he saw Xuanji, he smiled and said softly, “Xuanji, you’re back at last. Auntie and Sister Linglong have been missing you all day long.”.

In the entire Shaoyang Sect, apart from her father and mother and Linglong, the person closest to Xuanji was Senior Brother Du Minxing.

Du Minxing rubbed her head lovingly and smiled: “Go in and tell us about your experience of catching demons. This…….little brother is…….?”

Seeing him looking at him, and then looking at the hand that Xuanji was holding on to his arm, Yu Sifeng somehow felt a bit disgusted, so he arched his hand and said quietly, “I am , Li-Ze Palace, disciple, Yu Sifeng.”

Du Minxing smiled a little, not caring about his indifference, and only persuaded the children to come in.

As soon as Linglong heard about catching demons, she was the first one to rush into the house and waved back to them, “Come in! Xuanji, Little Six, Sifeng! I want to hear you talk about catching demons!”

She is so happy that she forgets all about her previous quarrel with Yu Sifeng and accepts this new best friend with ease.

[1]: As in, the group of three good friends (Xuanji, Sifeng, Minyan) were going to become four/also add Linglong. Iron is/was considered the strongest metal, so something made of iron would be strong or unbreakable, i.e, the Iron Triangle – three stong people with an equally strong bond with each other, and meeting Linglong it would become four, so the four (iron) corners.
